MEGA YOGA CLASS IN PORTUGAL

GRAND CELEBRATION OF THE WORLD YOGA DAY
Organization of the Yoga Portuguese Confederation, with the support of
BEJA CITY HALL, INATEL FOUNDATION and the Olympic Committee OF PORTUGAL
Beja will receive on Sunday - June 24th one more GRAND CELEBRATION OF THE WORLD YOGA DAY - JUNE 21st - Solstice (always celebrated on the following Sunday when not coincident). Every year, about 1000 PRACTITIONERS and more than 150 CHILDREN from all over Portugal and the World, get together to participate in a MEGA YOGA CLASS designed for those who want to celebrate a Day for the PLANET, WORLD FRATERNITY, LIFE AND HUMANITY , AND THE blurring of global inequalities. This is a World Wide Celebration and a candidate at United Nations and UNESCO to FIRST GLOBAL DAY, celebrated since 2001, of Portuguese initiative.
Who wants to be a part of this initiative in Beja City can still see the performances of the Advanced Traditional Yoga Demonstration Group – PASHUPATI, the Choir and Orchestra - OMKÁRA, both of the Yoga Portuguese Confederation, as well as public interventions of the Grand International Masters and Yoga Schools.
Admission is free. The participants simply need to contact their Yoga Schools, so that it becomes a supporter of this initiative and contact the Yoga Portuguese Confederation. If the person is not yet a practitioner but wants to participate, simply contact directly the Yoga Portuguese Confederation to be invited in.
As always on the Day before - Saturday June 23rd - from 9a.m. at the PAX JULIA Municipal Theatre will take place the Sámkhya and Darshana DAY that will count with the participation of the Grand Yoga Masters of the World and International and National Yoga Schools, as well as Astrophysics and Astronomers (with professional telescopes) that will address the theme of the Great Cosmos and our integration into the same, as Human Beings.

This Day was officially proclaimed in 2011 in India - on December 4th and 5th 2011 – at the International Summit held at the Art of living Foundation, that brought together 12 Major Lineages of Traditional Yoga of India with the co-organization of the Portuguese Confederation of Yoga.
The major World's Religions for the first time together
to bless the World and this World Day
In 2011 for the first time in the World representatives of the major religions joined hands in the name of peace, and blessed the planet together, in a firm commitment to appeal to their leaders to stop the bloodshed in Humanity (on behalf of a Creator God), emphasizing the richness of diversity, tolerance and to highlight what we have in common on behalf of Human Fraternity: Father Nuno Amador - Head of Pastoral University as spokesman of the Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon; H.H. Svámin Paramátmánanda Sarasvatí Mahá Raj – representative of Svámin Dayánandi Ji and Secretary General of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha - India; Jagat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája - President of the Yoga Portuguese Confederation; Sheikh David Munir - Imam of the Central Mosque of Lisboa; José Carp - President of the Jewish Community of Lisboa; Father José Salvador - President of the Synod of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Portugal; Father Alexandre Bonito - Greek Orthodox / Constantinople Church; Shaykh Ahmad Dedé - Sufi Community (Netherlands); Dr. Isabel Correia - Portuguese Buddhist Union; Acharya Nitish Ji Trivédi - Hindu Community of Portugal; Palmira Bastos Ferreira - Baha'i Faith Community.
 This is the only initiative in Portugal that gets together for the first time the highest Personalities of Yoga of India and the World, as well as the support and presence of several National and International Personalities, among which we highlight in previous years: Their Holiness Junapeethadheeshvar Acharya Mahámandleshvar Svámin Avdheshánand Giri, Svámin Paramátmánanda Sarasvatí - representing the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha of India, Dr. Nagendra - President of Vivekánanda Yoga University in Bengaluru - India and NASA scientist, Shrí Subodh Tiwari – Administrator of the Keivalyadhama Yoga Institute of India, Dr. Bawa Jain - Secretary General of the Council of the World Religious Leaders, Svámin Yadunandana representing ISKCON – Hare Krishna Movement of India, Svámin Sadyajota – representing Shrí Shrí Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living Foundation, the Reverend Master of European Yoga - Madame Eva Ruchpaul – France, Yoga Schools from India, United States, Canada, Egypt, France, Spain, Belgium, Serbia, representatives of Major World Religions; Representatives of Major Political Parties ; Ambassador of India, Dr. Maria Barroso, Architect Siza Vieira; Organizations such as QUERCUS, ACAP, Caritas.
This Day is also a precursor candidate to the FIRST GLOBAL DAY – for a Lucid and Fraternal Humanity, for the importance of Life, appreciation of what all have in common, Diversity and Sustainability - at the United Nations and UNESCO on the SOLSTICE - JUNE 21st - one Supra Cultural Day, and a Yoga Portuguese Confederation initiative. This Day is celebrated since 2001.
The BEJA CITTY HALL is hosting this Grand Celebration, establishing itself as a structuring partner in this noble project, as INATEL FOUNDATION and the OLYMPIC COMMITTEE OF PORTUGAL. Also the High Commissioner for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue, Pro-Dignitate Foundation, the Youth Foundation, the Portuguese Youth Institute, and all the Hindu Community of Portugal supports this initiative thereby enhancing its promotion and dissemination. As every year we rely on the presence of several Mass Media.

WHAT IS
The WORLD YOGA DAY is a Day for the Planet, for World Fraternity, Life and Humanity, for the blurring of global inequalities. To celebrate the high importance of what the Human Beings and Nations have in common, for the respect for the richness of diversity - ethnic, cultural, and inter-religious tolerance. For the importance of personal development and self-responsibility - and the human / cosmic connection since the beginning of mankind.
Precursor candidate at United Nations and UNESCO to celebrate the FIRST GLOBAL DAY in a Cosmic Auspice - Supra Cultural - a Solstice - June 21st - is intended to be a high day without bloodshed for 24 hours around the globe.

WHO
YOGA PRACTITIONERS, supporters and CURIOUS, ADULTS, CHILDREN AND SENIORS from all over the country and the world, from all backgrounds and faiths, can participate in this great Initiative to bring together all those who want to join a Day to celebrate the World Fraternity, Inter Religious, Inter Ethnic, for the practice of Ahimsá - nonviolence.
It is also the only day in Portugal that attracts for the first time the highest personalities of Yoga of India and the World, bringing together the main National Political Parties, the major World Religions, the most prestigious National and International Yoga Schools.
HOW
Admission is free, individually or collectively people may simply contact their Yoga School to become a supporter of this initiative and contact the Yoga Portuguese Confederation. If the person is not yet a practitioner he/she may directly contact the Yoga Portuguese Confederation, to be invited to participate. For the first 500 participants on June 24th we have Kits to offer from our partners!

If you are from another country and cannot come to Portugal, you may organize a Celebration of the World Yoga Day - June 21st - in your country and share it with us.
